ODT are designed with the patient in mind--to help make taking medicine easier.
At Taiyo, we aim to provide medicines that are easy for patients to take. This includes R&D in such areas as making tablets smaller and converting granules into syrups. One specific area we are focusing on is orally disintegrating tablets (ODT), which dissolve in the mouth rapidly even if no water is taken by the patient. We are pursuing this research using our advanced technical capabilities.
Taiyo's advanced level of pharmaceutical technology is recognized by other companies. This fact is borne out by the rapid increase in orders received for product R&D.
Originally, ODT was developed specifically with elderly patients in mind, as many such patients have difficulty swallowing. ODT has received significant attention due to the fact that it may be taken anywhere, anytime, consequently driving growth in demand for ODT products. There are a large number of patents related to the manufacture of ODT, and the level of manufacturing technology required is extremely high. Taiyo holds a number of patents related to ODT formulation. Our advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing technology is widely recognized, and this is reflected in the rapid increase in the number of orders for product R&D we have received in recent years from numerous companies.
We aim to develop superior generic medicines through the conversion of conventional tablets to ODT.
Our R&D Department is studying the conversion of conventional tablet products into ODT products when such products are newly developed as generics. This demonstrates Taiyo's commitment to the research and development of superior generic medicines that are more convenient the patients to take.
