Using state-of-the-art facilities, we conduct R&D covering a wide range of formulation types.
It is our R&D Department that enables us to provide patients with high-quality medicines at affordable prices. At one of Japan's most advanced R&D facilities we conduct R&D relating to a wide range of formulation types.
These include tablets, injectables and formulations for external use. In addition, we have initiated R&D in the areas of anti-cancer drugs and ophthalmic solutions, for which there is a high medical need in society.
We are involved in all phases of the development process, from formulation design to approval application.
In the commercialization of a wide range of effective and highly safe medicines, our R&D Department is involved in all phases of the development process—from formulation design and physical and chemical analysis, to bioequivalence studies to confirm equivalence to that of the innovator drugs, to the submission of approval applications to government agencies. We also conduct patent research and submit patent applications.
We also conduct a broad range of evaluations and trials to provide technical data to medical institutions and other parties. We respond to a variety of questions received from medical institutions, and conduct verification tests, such as formulation grindability.
In the future, we will strive to expand our product line-up in response to the needs of society.
As our society is aging, we are working to meet societies' needs by trying to help reduce the impact of rising healthcare costs and relieve pressure on national budgets. One way in which we can contribute is by expanding our product line-up to reduce the costs borne by patients. At the same time, we are also conducting R&D to further enhance the convenience of medicines.
1. User-Fiendly Medicines
We place priority on the development of medicines that are user-friendly for both patients and medical professionals. These include such products as orally disintigrating tablets (ODT) and pre-filled syringe formulations.
2. Expansion of Our Product Line-up
To provide a large number of generic medicines, we believe it is important to expand our product line-up. At present, we are conducting R&D covering almost all types of formulations.
3. Reduction of Costs Borne by Patients
We aim to develop medicines that can be supplied at low cost, which will reduce the cost borne by patients and the costs to society as a whole.
